Canton, Massachusetts

Located 15 miles from downtown Boston, Canton is an upscale suburb in Norfolk County. The town lies at the foot of Great Blue Hill, and the Canton River flows through the center of town before emptying into the Neponset. 

Canton is the corporate headquarters of Dunkin’ Donuts and Reebok. The town has an office park-like feel, complete with country clubs (Blue Hill, Brookmeadow, and Wampatuck), a ski area, and a short commute for many of the 22,000 people who live in Canton.

Canton is known for its good public schools and organized youth sports programs. The hockey program is one of the best in the state, a point that was underscored in 2010 when the High School Boys Varsity hockey team won the Division II State Championship. Canton is also home to the Blue Hills Regional Technical School, a 35-acre campus that’s been serving the region since 1963. 

Popular attractions in Canton include the Bradley Estate, Metropolis Skate Rink, and the Museum of American Bird Art at Mass Audubon. The community features several parks, ponds, and walking and hiking trails. 

In 2014, after 21 years in the making, the Farnham-Connolly State Park (known locally as the Canton Airport park) finally opened. The area features a six-acre passive-use park with paved paths and wetlands overlooks, as well as 232 acres of freshwater marshes.  

Interstate 95, 93, and Massachusetts Route 128 all traverse Canton. The MBTA rail station is located at Canton Junction and is served by the Providence/Stoughton line.
